Time Bandits

Malton County Primary school pupils are time bandits. Malton Laser make the 'Time Capsule'......

 Local News

Pupils from Malton CP School are making their mark on the history of the town.
Key Stage One pupils are planting a time capsule under the new steps in Malton Marketplace on Friday (May 1) as part of efforts to re-vamp the town by community leaders.

The steps are part of the improvements in the Market Place which are being

funded by Ryedale District Council, Yorkshire Forward, North Yorkshire County Council and Malton Town Council.

The time capsule – which has been made to measure by Malton Laser - will be planted at 10am on Friday under the steps opposite the Kings Head pub, in Malton Marketplace, and will include
• A photograph of the pupils
• Map of area
• Diary entry written by one of children
• School menu
• Picture of DS Nintendo
"The time capsule will be a snapshot of Malton as it is on May 1 2009 as seen through the eyes of some of the town's young residents," said Steve Mellalieu, Head of Economy and Community for Ryedale District Council.

"It marks the efforts by local people to improve the town in which they live and leaves a record of Malton as it is today."

Headteacher, Mr Mark Poole said "We are very pleased to be a part of this exciting project. The children are thrilled to think that they will be contributing a part of their history to future generations."

 Time Capsule

Many, many thanks for your input into the Time Capsule project.

The children were obviously delighted with the idea and the box was quite amazing - I still can't believe I saw a box with no visible joins!!

I hope some of the children will be around when the box is unearthed - who knows when! - and they will be able to remember their part in it.

Many thanks again

Jane
